About Diploma in Hairdressing

Tower Bridge Beauty Academy offers the Diploma in Hairdressing at its East London centre, located just a stone's throw from Tower Bridge. The Diploma in Hairdressing aims to prepare you for a career as a professional hairdresser/hair stylist. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role of a hairdresser.

During this vocational qualification you will gain practical experience in the skills necessary for a career in beauty and specifically for a career as a hairdresser/hair stylist. You will develop your knowledge and understanding of key skills including client consultation, advanced cutting, styling and colouring techniques and, selling products and services to clients. You will also develop interpersonal skills which are important for communicating effectively with clients.

This qualification is based on National Occupational Standards (NOS) for hairdressing. It is recognised by the UK's lead hairdressing professional association (The Hairdressing Council) as being fit for purpose for preparing learners for a career as a senior hairdresser/stylist.

Units Covered

During this course you will complete between 8 and 9 units, 6 of which are compulsory, you can then choose from 14 optional units.

 

Units include:

  • Cutting women's hair to create a variety of looks

  • Styling and dressing hair using a variety of techniques

  • Colouring hair to create a variety of looks

  • Hairdressing consultation support for colleagues

  • Providing hair extension services

Entry Requirements

We will assess all applicants suitability on a case-by-case basis. Entry onto the course may be obtained through previous attainment of a Level 2 qualification in beauty therapy and/or successful completion of an English and Maths test and interview. 

Purpose

This course aims to provide career development to those already in work, to equip learners not in work or working in a different sector to find work as a nail technician or as a step towards further study in a similar subject.

Assessment

 

Learners will be required to maintain a portfolio of work which evidences what they have covered and learnt during this course. This portfolio will be internally assessed. 

 

Delivery

This course is delivered at our Tower Bridge Centre with attendance for classes being required two days a week, 09:30 - 14:30 weekdays and 10:00 - 16:00 on weekends. 

Our expert course tutor will guide you through the course and our centre is equipped with everything you need to be able to complete assignments and undertake independent study, including computers and laptops. 

Cost
