UK Skills Growth Academy offers the Diploma in Bridal Hair & Make-Up at its East London centre, located just a stone's throw from Tower Bridge. The course is designed to prepare you for a career in the bridal world as professional Bridal Hair & Make-up artist. Enabling you to provide high quality hair styling and all makeup services to embark on a hugely successfully fun career. All the units in this qualification relate directly to the specific job role and wedding industry.

Over 5 months at our academy, you will go through all makeup techniques for creating beautiful bridal makeup and on-trend bridal hairstyling techniques. Once you have completed this course and achieved your Diploma at level 3, you will feel confident in achieving any look requested by your bride. Entry Requirements

To achieve this qualification, learners must have previously achieved a Level 2 qualification in Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing or Make-Up. However, if you don’t fulfil the entry requirement then you need to complete a 1 week Level 2 Award in Skin which will be embedded at the beginning of the course. 


This course aims to provide career development to those already in work, to equip learners not in work or working in a different sector to find work as a Bridal and hair make-up artist or as a step towards further study in a similar subject.


Assessment Methods

During this course you will be assessed through various assessments, multiple choice theory exams, evidence portfolio and workbooks. Also, a 90% attendance is required to pass the course due to the intensity and course length.



This course is delivered at our Tower Bridge Centre with attendance for classes being required one day a week 10:00 - 16:00.

Our expert course tutor will guide you through the course and our centre is equipped with everything you need to be able to complete assignments and undertake independent study, including computers and laptops. 

For uniform all learners will require to wear black clothing, black footwear, and have their hair-up. An academy branded tee will be also provided by the salon.

Learners are required to bring their own models some days in order for them to complete practical elements of the course.

Unit Descriptions

1.    Explore Technological Developments within the Hair Beauty and associated areas


This unit will help you to advise your clients about technological developments related to the hair and beauty fields. Areas include micro-pigmentation, laser treatments, dermal fillers, hair extensions, chemical peels and tooth whitening, as well as facial cosmetic surgery.

2.    Client Consultation for Hair Services

After completion this unit you will be able to creatively assess the client’s requirements; examine the hair, skin and scalp; facial characteristics including face shape, skin tone, hair colour, lifestyle and suitability; conduct visual checks and any necessary tests on the hair, skin and scalp; advise clients on services or products; identify the client’s hair characteristics and hair classification; and advise clients on hair maintenance and management.

3.    The Art of Dressing Hair 

This unit is to develop the creative skill of styling, dressing and finishing hair. You will learn how to identify the capability of your client’s hair which will allow you to choose from a range of products, tools and equipment to complete the look.

4.    Styling Bridal Hair

This unit is to develop your technical skill to an advanced level to create a variety of bridal hair styles includes Hollywood waves, Victory Rolls, French Pleat  that are personalised for each client. You will be able to analyse the capability of your clients’ hair, with consideration for the style of dress to be worn.

5.    Special Occasion Hair Styles

The purpose of this unit is to enable learners to develop further their creativity and extend their styling, dressing and finishing techniques and skills to create hair-up styles for different special occasions.

6.    Styling and Dressing Hair (using a range of techniques)

You will learn different styling techniques to suit your brides who are after traditional bridal, vintage or boho look, you will learn how to create texture and volume in their hair and learn what tools to use and how to use them to create big bouncy curls, natural curls and creating a half up, half down hair style with different twist techniques and soft waves.

7.    Apply Make-up

This unit is about providing make-up for a variety of occasions, including day, evening and special occasions.

You will be able to work with a variety of skin types and apply a wide range of make-up products to different skin

tones and age groups.

8.    Bridal Make-up

You will learn the techniques for applying and styling makeup for brides, including methods for priming the face, applying foundation and creating the perfect bridal smokey eye, winged eye or contemporary 3D eye make-up.

9.    Asian Bridal Make-up

The aim of this unit is to develop the skills required to design and apply different Asian bridal looks for brides.

10.  False Eyelash Application


You will learn about and complete practical work and assessment to achieve the safe application of individual false eyelashes.

11.  Monitor and Maintain Health and Safety Practice in the salon

This unit will develop your skills in a supervisory role, recognise on salon hazards, carry out risk assessments and then implement the necessary actions on health and safety within your salon.

12.  Maintaining Personal Health and Well-being

To develop your knowledge and understanding of how to maintain your own health and well-being.
